The City Rail Link Project awarded by the ISC. |
|
Congratulations to the team involved in the CRL (City Rail Link) Project. The City Rail Link project was awarded an Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Leading Design rating. The City Rail Link (CRL) is New Zealand’s largest-ever transport infrastructure project, involving the construction of a 3.45km twin-tunnel underground rail link up to 42m below the Auckland city centre. The CRL will carry up to 54,000 people per hour, an equivalent capacity to three Harbour Bridges or 16 extra traffic lanes in the city at peak travel times.

How can infrastructure be not only more resilient but enable resilience in our communities? |
|
Understanding Resilient Infrastructure |
|
The ISC Resilience Member Coalition acknowledges that the beautiful part of the world we live in is also one that experiences extreme climate events, such as flooding, cyclones, and fires. With additional stressors like the pandemic, cost of living, and technology challenges, building resilience in our community becomes increasingly crucial. But what does that mean for the infrastructure industry. What does resilient infrastructure entail, and how can it help communities thrive in times of stress and shocks?
The newly formed ISC Resilience Member Coalition has come together to explore these questions. With leaders from Acciona, Ventia, WSP, and Fletcher Building Group, the coalition is currently identifying opportunities and challenges within the sector and developing a practical workplan to accelerate systemic resilience across infrastructure. Their purpose is to accelerate systemic resilience across the infrastructure sector. Enabling communities to thrive in the face of ongoing change.
While the coalition continues to define and scope out its purpose and work plan, they have already identified some key areas of resilience to explore. These areas include deepening the understanding and awareness of resilience, exploring gaps in the market of resilience data, examining the risks and impact of resilience across the ecosystem, including investors, asset owners, contractors, and users. Additionally, they are exploring the materials and supply chain that can enable resilient infrastructure, identifying opportunities in that space.
The coalition meets regularly online. To join us or for more information and a briefing session, contact us at coalitions@iscouncil.org |

IS for Operations |
|
IS for Operations training investigates the processes and components of an IS Operations rating.
Participants will explore the tangible and intangible benefits of sustainability initiatives across a range of sectors and create a master plan for the implementation of an IS rating on an operational asset.
The IS Operations rating helps practitioners assess how operating assets, networks or portfolios of infrastructure assets are performing. It also helps identify economic, social and environmental opportunities and benefits efficiently and continues to improve the way assets are operated. |
