An Invitation – Road Base Workshop
Invitation
What to do with road base workshop
Building roads requires a significant amount and volume of road base. It also costs a lot too! Extracting raw materials for road base creates environmental impacts such as clearing of native vegetation and disruptions to ecosystems. There must be a better way! If we use recycled materials in road base we can help reduce the amount of raw materials, waste to landfill and even costs.
Building roads also generates waste material that requires compliance with EPA waste guidelines and regulations. Collaboration is required to achieve mutual outcomes of protecting the environment and reducing road construction waste to landfill.
You are invited to a special workshop in Macksville on the NSW Mid North Coast. Hosted by the Office of Environment and Heritage and Nambucca Shire Council this solutions-focused workshop will look for regional solutions on the Mid North Coast. It will also aim to identify projects that can apply for funding under the EPA Civil Construction Marketplace Program.
This workshop is relevant to you if you purchase a significant amount of road base or generate a significant amount of road construction waste.
Please join us to:
- Hear about sustainable materials in the marketplace and case studies of where they have been used successfully
- Identify key technical and engineering requirements for the Mid North Coast
- Examine the potential barriers such as transport, logistics, equipment, compliance with regulations etc.
- Identify projects that can apply for funding that work within existing EPA regulations to achieve a sustainable outcome
