Founded in 1973 by John and Leonie Hynds, the 100% family owned Hynds Group, manufacture, import, distribute and supply a comprehensive range of products for drainage, watermain, stormwater, wastewater, and rural applications. The group employs over 900 people, across 48 sites in New Zealand and Australia.
At Hynds, our belief is we all have a responsibility and a part to play in a low carbon future. Hynds has taken a position to reduce its carbon footprint through energy and resource efficiencies throughout its business and by working closely and collaboratively with its supply partners to adopt science-based aligned targets and reductions in the embedded carbon in their products and materials.
Hynds also believes as a business it has the fortunate opportunity to increase its handprint in providing climate change resilience through water retention, flood protection and coastal erosion solutions for communities, towns and cities should the impacts of climate change occur.
Hynds has adopted a sustainability framework which focuses on three strategic pillars; the planet (our natural environment), people (our people but also our wider communities and stakeholders) and products (innovating and building resilience into what we do to meet the needs of future generations).
