Read MoreWe are one of the largest geographically-spread road agencies in the world, responsible for more than 18,500 kilometres of road spread over 2.5 million square kilometres. Our role is to plan, build and maintain Western Australia’s State road network valued at almost $48 billion. We work closely with our portfolio partners (Department of Transport and Public Transport Authority) and Local Government to support the needs of all road users across the State by providing an integrated world-class road transport network.
Our aspiration is to provide world-class outcomes for our customer by delivering a safe, reliable and sustainable road-based transport system. To achieve our aspiration, we have identified four key areas of focus – customers, movement, safety and sustainability. Of these, sustainability has been recognised as crucial to achieving the government goal of providing WA with an integrated transport solution, creating an efficient and user-friendly state-wide transport network.
To support our strategic direction, the 2016 Sustainability Policy identified six key priorities for Main Roads – Sustainable Transport; Climate Change; Environmental footprint; Behaviour; Governance & Performance; and Funding & Financing.
